My first stop was the Oceanview Café, outlined by panoramic windows, and wonderful sea views any time of day. As I wandered around, I immediately noticed a large amount of outdoor lounging space. Gone were the high thrill activities on the pool decks; in place, tons of seating and real grass for practicing golf. Suite passengers are treated to The Retreat on Celebrity Equinox. The two fee-free venues on offer are The Silhouette Restaurant - Main Dining Room, and the Oceanview Cafe lido deck buffet. There is a second dining room, The Blu, exclusively for use by suite and AquaClass passengers.

It’s not tucked away in a corner of the ship but open to the Celebrity Equinox atrium, which means it’s not always quiet. This is more of a place where passengers come to relax rather than to read in absolute solitude. For some of the best Celebrity Equinox entertainment, head to the Lawn Club for the Hot Glass Class, given by glass blowing artisans from Hollywood Hot Glass.
A Look at Celebrity Equinox
The agency's website teased with "get ready to eat like Joey, joke like Chandler, cook like Monica, shop like Rachel, yoga like Phoebe and dig like Ross". The 2009-built Celebrity Equinox cruise ship is the 2nd of the Solstice-class Celebrity liners, with sisterships Eclipse, Silhouette, Solstice, Reflection. Celebrity Cruises Equinox ship was scheduled for "Celebrity Revolution" drydock refurbishment on May 25, 2019. This was a smaller ship than I had previously sailed, mostly the Oasis class ships of Royal Caribbean, that top out at 6,000 people. With the smaller size, I saw people more frequently, and it felt like a more intimate setting despite almost 3,000 people onboard. Apparently, many people were also excited about visiting these islands, and many of the guests I spoke to had excursions booked for all of the ports.

The Lawn Club
One of the things about the Celebrity Equinox that struck us most was the fact that the buffet was on a separate deck from the main pool area. Most other Celebrity ships, and in particular the newer Edge vessels, offer easier access to the buffet, and this layout on Equinox felt rather inconvenient. Every effort is taken to deliver easy ship access and an unrivaled cruise vacation for our guests. All cabins have two twins that can be pushed together to form a queen bed. Some staterooms are also equipped with either a sofa bed and/or an upper pull-down bunk bed to accommodate a third or fourth passenger.
Also available only to AquaClass guests is a Relaxation Lounge with cushioned daybeds, on Deck 11. Also once per cruise, the Lawn Club hosts an evening concert; turnout is usually high (and surprisingly energetic). Blankets and pillows are strewn about the grass, but there is plenty of space to dance.
Entertainment Deck
Forward from the main pool is Celebrity Equinox’s adult-only area. The 16-and-up Solarium houses within its blissfully quiet enclosure two hot tubs and a lovely pool bookended by a wall of ferns and flowers, as well as a soothing water and light display. Overall, I wasn’t sure about a 10 day cruise, but in the end, the time went so fast, and I would not hesitate to do it again or even go longer. The Southern Caribbean is a bucket list destination for me, and I was pretty excited to see that we would be visiting St Lucia, St Kitts and Nevis, Grenada, Antigua, and Martinique. These are all part of the Lesser Antilles and make up part of a volcanic arc on the Eastern boundary of the Caribbean. Usually, I spend quite a bit of time researching the ship I am going on, but this deal was so great that I did not worry too much about it. I was also highly intrigued by the Southern itinerary, so there was little debate in my mind as to whether to go or not. After all, everyone needs to get their sleep for the Olympic pace of walking in the morning. During the day, I frequented the buffet for breakfast and lunch. I enjoyed the salad selection at lunchtime, including fresh pita with beet hummus. I enjoyed the food, but some people commented on the lack of variety.
The Celebrity Equinox casino is located on the Deck 4 promenade.
